About The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Security Engineer to join our Platform team at J.P. Morgan. In this pivotal role, you will be at the forefront of embedding security into our engineering processes and delivering scalable, robust security solutions. Your expertise will help shape a modern, engineering-led security culture that balances agility with risk management. You will work closely with cross-functional squads, contributing to the development and implementation of security controls that enable rapid software delivery without compromising safety. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence security practices across large-scale enterprise environments, supporting the organization’s commitment to secure innovation and operational resilience.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess hands-on experience in software, platform, or cloud engineering roles, particularly within public cloud environments. Strong proficiency in designing and deploying security controls within CI/CD pipelines is essential. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in at least one programming or scripting language for automation purposes. A solid understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and integrating security practices throughout is required. Familiarity with cloud-native technologies such as containers and orchestration platforms, along with experience applying security testing and controls in automated pipelines, will be highly valued. Additionally, candidates should exhibit strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills to effectively collaborate with technical teams and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and operate scalable security capabilities integrated into engineering workflows to support secure software delivery.
  • Embed security into the software development lifecycle by implementing automated controls and security checks within CI/CD pipelines.
  • Enhance software supply chain security through SBOM (Software Bill of Materials) generation and dependency visibility to ensure transparency and control over third-party components.
  • Analyze vulnerability data, enrich it with contextual information, and provide actionable insights for effective remediation strategies.
  • Offer guidance and best practices to engineering teams to address security issues proactively and efficiently.
  • Collaborate with platform and product engineering teams to promote secure development practices and foster a security-first mindset.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate security risks in runtime and cloud environments, supporting remediation efforts as needed.
  • Support the development and operationalization of runtime security tooling to provide continuous risk visibility in production environments.
  • Participate in security incident response activities, including triage, investigation, and resolution, while developing and maintaining incident response processes and detection capabilities.
  • Work with risk, governance, and control teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies, providing necessary reporting and documentation.
