Lead Site Reliability Engineer (AWS & Azure)

Location

Manchester (hybrid)

Salary Range

£75,000 – £100,000 (DOE)

About the Role

A large, Manchester-based SaaS provider seeks a Lead Site Reliability Engineer to serve as the team’s cloud engineering authority.

You’ll join at a critical juncture in the company’s growth, as it undertakes major digital transformation, placing increasing focus on cloud modernisation and AI integration. This role presents a unique opportunity to shape the future of the company’s cloud and platform estate as it develops at scale.

The ideal candidate will be a senior Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Lead, or DevOps architect with expertise in both Azure and AWS. You must operate at the intersection of engineering, cloud architecture, and strategic leadership, comfortable balancing hands-on execution with defining standards, guiding investments, and driving platform initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the tech lead for cloud and infrastructure modernisation in a fast-growing SaaS business.
  • Shape the technical direction of cloud platforms, weighing trade-offs in scalability, cost, observability, and security.
  • Define cloud-native architectures, Infrastructure as Code (IaC) strategies, and automation pipelines for repeatable, cost-efficient deployments.
  • Design and oversee CI/CD pipelines, leveraging Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
  • Lead monitoring, observability, and incident response, including Prometheus, Grafana, and Datadog.
  • Optimise cloud spend, ensuring compliance with financial and operational goals.
  • Champion containerisation (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes) in production workloads.
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align technical strategy with business objectives.
  • Drive security best practices, including secure coding, network hardening, and compliance (e.g., ISO, GDPR).
  • Foster a supportive, high-performance culture for engineering teams, improving reliability and collaboration.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
