Our client in the Information Technology and Services industry is looking for a Lead Software Developer - SFIA 5 to lead the development, enhancement, and support of enterprise applications across server, desktop, database, and legacy technologies. This role requires extensive expertise in .NET development, Microsoft Access, SQL Server, and enterprise application support, with a strong emphasis on maintaining and modernizing business-critical systems. The successful candidate will contribute to software development, troubleshooting, end-user support, and technical improvements while ensuring secure, reliable, and high-performing solutions within a public sector environment.

What you will do:

  • Design, develop, maintain, and support server and desktop.NET applications.
  • Develop and enhance applications using C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net, VBScript, WebAPI, and WCF.
  • Build, maintain, and optimize Microsoft Access databases using advanced VBA.
  • Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot SQL Server databases, T-SQL code, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Support Oracle databases and develop PL/SQL solutions where required.
  • Configure and support Microsoft Replication Services and legacy Oracle integrations.
  • Develop and maintain web-based applications using HTML, JSON, XML, XPath, and XSLT.
  • Support document generation and formatting using RTF, PDF, FOP, and FO.Net technologies.
  • Integrate solutions with Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Develop, configure, and maintain Windows Services, IIS-hosted applications, and SharePoint integrations.
  • Manage source control and deployment processes using Git, Azure DevOps, TFS, and Jenkins.
  • Develop and support SSIS solutions and file transfer integrations, including Quatrix and SFTP-related processes.
  • Troubleshoot complex application, database, and infrastructure issues.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to end users.
  • Maintain legacy development environments using multiple versions of Visual Studio.
  • Collaborate with technical and business stakeholders to deliver secure, reliable, and maintainable software solutions.
  • Ensure applications comply with security, quality, and operational standards.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience developing and supporting .NET web and Windows Forms applications.
  • Advanced expertise in Microsoft Access, including VBA development.
  • Extensive experience with SQL Server, T-SQL, stored procedures, and user-defined functions.
  • Experience supporting Oracle databases and PL/SQL development.
  • Proficiency with C#, VB.Net, ASP.Net, VBScript, WebAPI, and WCF.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Replication Services and legacy Oracle connectivity.
  • Knowledge of HTML, JSON, XML, XPath, and XSLT.
  • Experience with PDF generation technologies, including FOP and FO.Net.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office integrations, IIS, Windows Services, and SharePoint.
  • Experience using Git, Azure DevOps, TFS, Jenkins, and Visual Studio, including legacy versions.
  • Experience with SSIS and secure file transfer solutions such as SFTP and Quatrix.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and end-user support skills.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting public sector or highly regulated environments is preferred.
  • Experience with APHA systems or environments is beneficial.
