Do you care about efficiency and continuous improvement? Join our team and help us redefine the way software is delivered at Capital One. In this role, you aren't just writing code or managing infrastructure; you are a force-multiplier for our engineering teams. You will sit at the intersection of software engineering and community advocacy. You’ll spend your time getting hands-on with the code that powers software delivery at Capital One, while simultaneously acting as a bridge by gathering feedback from our UK Tech organisation and sharing good engineering practices across the business. You’ll be joining a passionate and diverse team on a mission to reduce engineering frustration and accelerate software delivery. What you’ll do Support and enhance the adoption and enablement of continuously evolving software delivery lifecycle platforms Operate beyond the IDE - We don’t just solve problems with code, we continuously strive for the right solutions to our customers’ problems, not just build tools and features Deliver core engineering features and improvements that engineers in the UK and US consume on a daily basis to deliver software at Capital One Continued support, maintenance and development of our core systems, enhancing our internal Customers’ journeys on their path to CI/CD Enhance our AWS deployment and validation mechanisms Build relationships and influence with platform owning teams to support prioritisation and inner sourcing opportunities Partner with Capital One teams in the US to innersource contributions to internal developer tools Within Developer Experience you operate as a Developer Advocate. You will build a network of connections across engineering, to allow you to hear about friction and opportunities to work with teams on improving the developer experience. Work closely with stakeholders in Developer Experience to identify opportunities and create technical roadmaps Be a technical leader in the team, driving the delivery of complex and ambiguous projects What we’re looking for Great communicator, willing to get involved, talk to our customers, share ideas, teach and lead amongst peers You’re happy working across a variety of technologies and platforms to identify and solve solve complex problems working up and down the technology stack You really care about making a difference to each and every developer’s experience You bring an analytical mindset with a clear focus on delivering value for both the organisation and our customers inline with stakeholder expectations Experience with the concepts of infrastructure as code and CI/CD Strong programming skills in one or more languages (such as Java or TypeScript) Solid understanding of Amazon Web Services (AWS) or alternative cloud platforms You’re a stickler for efficiency and effectiveness Proven experience in technical leadership Where and how you'll work This is a permanent position based in our Nottingham office. We have a hybrid working model which gives you flexibility to work from our offices and from home. We’re big on collaboration and connection, so you’ll be based in our Nottingham office 3 days a week on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
