Tech Lead - Manchester (Hybrid)
.NET Core, Azure, Agentic AI, TypeScript
£85,000-£100,000 + Package
Not every Tech Lead role means stepping away from the code. This one certainly doesn't.
We're working with a growing Manchester technology business that's investing heavily in its engineering function. As they continue to modernise their platform and incorporate AI into the evolution of their stack, they're looking for a hands-on Tech Lead to help shape both the technology and the team.
You'll spend around 80% of your time designing solutions, writing code and tackling complex technical challenges, with the remainder focused on coaching engineers, supporting your squad and influencing the wider technical direction of the business.
What you'll be doing
- Leading a cross-functional product squad made up of engineers, QA, UX and product
- Remaining hands-on with modern.NET Core development, architecture and code reviews
- Coaching and mentoring developers whilst helping build a strong engineering culture
- Championing engineering quality such as SOLID principles, TDD, DRY and clean architecture
- Helping modernise a legacy CMS - carving it into React microservices
- Working alongside the CTO to influence architecture, AI adoption and future technical direction

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
