Behind that transformation are talented engineering teams building the applications, services and platforms that help bring our future ambitions to life.
We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our Commercial Digital Factory in Gaydon. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys combining hands-on technical delivery with team leadership, helping to design, develop and maintain scalable digital applications across both frontend and backend services.
In this role, you will help lead a technical team across software engineering, platform engineering, integration and operations. You will work closely with Product Owners, Solution Architects, Designers, Engineering teams and wider business stakeholders to turn requirements into secure, performant and maintainable digital solutions.
- You will be involved in designing, developing, testing and maintaining application components
- Building and supporting APIs, services and integrations across enterprise platforms
- Contributing to CI/CD pipelines, automation and DevOps best practice

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

- Improving code quality
- Supporting troubleshooting and defect resolution
- Shaping reusable components
- Contributing to engineering standards and technical documentation
This role would suit someone who enjoys being close to the detail while also supporting others to deliver at their best. You will bring:
- Experience leading or supporting a development team

- The ability to collaborate confidently across technical and non-technical teams
A structured approach to problem solving, strong communication skills and a focus on quality, security, performance and customer outcomes will be key.
Experience in automotive, manufacturing, retail or enterprise digital environments would be beneficial, as would exposure to cloud technologies, APIs, integrations, enterprise platforms or large-scale transformation programmes. Line management experience would also be helpful, although what matters most is your ability to lead with clarity, accountability and a collaborative mindset.
In return, you will have the opportunity to play a meaningful role in the digital transformation of one of the world’s most iconic luxury automotive brands. You will join a team where engineering excellence, continuous improvement and thoughtful problem solving genuinely matter — and where your work will help shape digital solutions that support Aston Martin’s commercial future.
