Lead Software Engineer
Lead Software Engineer – AI & Financial Services

The Role: Lead Software Engineer (AI & Full-Stack)
As the most senior technical voice in one of our product squads, you’ll serve as the technical co-leader alongside the Engineering Manager. This role demands deep expertise in AI, ownership of technical direction, and hands-on leadership including:
- Architectural decision-making and hands-on delivery.
- Mentoring engineers across AI and full-stack domains.
- Setting high standards for AI-powered workflows, including LLM-centric features.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership
- Define the squad’s technical direction, manage risk, and represent engineering in our Architecture Review Board.
- Own AI/ML system architecture, from prompt engineering to agent frameworks.
- Adoption of AI Coding Tools
- Drive adoption of AI-driven development across the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Set standards for AI usage—from code review to deployment.
- Full-Stack & Cloud-Native Delivery
- Build production-grade code in Node.js or Python backends, event-driven AWS architecture, and React where needed.
- Mentorship & Growth
- Guide engineers via code reviews, design documents, and day-to-day collaboration.
- Compliance & Standards
- Ensure auditable, compliant-by-design systems for FCA-regulated financial services.
- Collaboration with Platform Teams
- Consume shared capabilities and contribute reusable patterns rather than low-level one-offs.

What We’re Looking For
- 10+ Years of Experience:
- Deep hands-on hair in AI/ML system production, not just theoretical knowledge.
- Proven Leadership:
- Track record of shaping technical direction, mentoring teams, and influencing how build happens.
- AI Expertise:
- Prompt engineering, RAG, LLM model evaluation, and agent framework experience—production-ready, not just demo-scope.
- Full-Stack Depth:
- Node.js as a specialty, with proficiency in Python, event-driven serverless (AWS Lambda), and React.
- Curiosity & Judgment:
- Keeps abreast of emerging AI trends but adept at separating signal from noise in best choices.
- Compliance & Responsibility:
- Strong instinct for auditability, ethics, and regulatory alignment in financial systems.
