About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Engineer (Golang) to join our client's dynamic engineering team in South West London. This is an exceptional opportunity for a technically proficient professional to take ownership of complex backend systems within a rapidly scaling cybersecurity company. As the Lead Principal Engineer, you will serve as the technical right hand to the Head of Development, influencing architectural decisions, setting engineering standards, and spearheading innovative projects involving AI-assisted development. This role offers a unique blend of hands-on coding, technical leadership, and strategic planning, making it ideal for someone passionate about building secure, scalable, and high-performance software solutions.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in software development with a strong focus on Golang, ideally in a leadership capacity.
- Extensive background in designing and implementing microservices and distributed systems.
- Demonstrated experience in technical leadership, mentoring, and guiding engineering teams.
- Solid understanding of system architecture, security principles, and best practices in software engineering.
- Hands-on experience with Docker, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and secure CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with AI integration in software development processes is highly desirable.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
- Relevant industry certifications or experience in cybersecurity or regulated environments is a plus.

Responsibilities
- Collaborate closely with the Head of Development to define and implement technical solutions that align with business objectives.
- Own and oversee detailed system design, technical specifications, and architecture documentation.
- Lead the backend development efforts using Golang and modern microservices frameworks.
- Mentor and support engineering team members to elevate technical standards and best practices.
- Champion secure software engineering principles and integrate DevSecOps practices into the development lifecycle.
- Drive the adoption of AI-assisted development tools, including rapid prototyping, code review, and automation.
- Design and build secure, scalable APIs and distributed systems that meet performance and reliability benchmarks.
- Continuously improve system performance, reliability, and overall engineering quality through innovative solutions and best practices.
- Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends to incorporate relevant innovations into the engineering process.
