ABOUT THE ROLE
As a Lead Software Engineer, you’ll be responsible for leading the technical delivery of software systems for Abstract’s clients. You’ll play a key role in translating client needs into robust technical solutions, guiding development teams through project execution, and fostering a culture of technical excellence and collaboration. This role balances hands-on development with team leadership, ensuring quality, innovation, and alignment with client goals.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance, and maintainable software systems.
- Translate client requirements into technical architecture and delivery plans.
- Ensure high standards of code quality, security, and documentation across the team.
- Define and promote architectural principles and design patterns to support long-term solution integrity.
- Oversee complex problem-solving and act as an escalation point for technical challenges.
- Provide day-to-day technical leadership, mentoring, and guidance to development teams.
- Line manage and develop engineers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing team culture.
- Lead project delivery, ensuring alignment with timelines, scope, and quality expectations.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering practices, tools, and workflows.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies to enhance solutions and service offerings.
- Collaborate with clients, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to define scope and deliver successful outcomes.
- Communicate technical decisions and progress clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

ESSENTIAL SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Significant hands-on experience as a full stack developer, building scalable web applications and RESTful APIs.
- Strong understanding of software design principles and object-oriented development.
- Strong proficiency in C# and the .NET framework.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure cloud platforms and services.
- Proficiency in front-end technologies, including HTML, CSS, and TypeScript.
- Experience with modern front-end frameworks (e.g. Angular, React)
- Experience designing and working with databases (e.g. MySQL, SQL Server, MongoDB).
- Experience working in Agile environments (e.g. Scrum, Kanban).
- Strong communication skills, with experience working directly with clients with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Proven experience leading technical delivery within cross-functional teams, including mentoring developers.
DESIRABLE SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- Certifications such as:
- Exam AZ-104 Microsoft Azure Administrator
- Exam AI-102 Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate

- Flexible Hybrid working structure (3 days in office).
