We work on large-scale transformation programmes that improve public services, helping government organisations deliver better outcomes for millions of people across the UK.

We're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to join one of our key government programmes. This is an exciting opportunity to take a technical leadership role, working with modern cloud technologies to build secure, scalable applications that have real-world impact.

If you enjoy solving complex technical challenges, mentoring engineers and delivering high-quality software within Agile teams, we'd love to hear from you.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll:

  • Lead the design and development of cloud-native, microservices-based applications.
  • Develop and maintain secure REST APIs using Node.js and/or Java.
  • Work with event-driven architectures using Kafka and Amazon SQS.

  • Champion clean code, continuous improvement and modern software engineering principles.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
