Lead Software Engineer – Mission-Critical Enterprise Software

Location: London (primarily office-based with flexibility where appropriate)

We're partnering with an ambitious, well-funded technology company that's building advanced software used in some of the world's most demanding operational environments. Their platform enables organisations to harness AI, autonomous systems and complex data to make faster, smarter decisions where reliability and performance are non-negotiable.

Following significant investment and continued growth, they're looking for an experienced Lead Software Engineer to take ownership of a key area of their flagship platform while mentoring a team of exceptional engineers.

The Opportunity

This is a genuine hands-on leadership role where you'll split your time between designing and developing complex software, making key technical decisions, and supporting the growth of your engineering team.

Working closely with Product Managers, Designers and fellow Engineering Leads, you'll help shape both the technical direction of the platform and the future roadmap of the product.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the technical direction for a core area of a large-scale enterprise platform.
  • Designing, developing and delivering high-quality production software.
  • Mentoring, coaching and supporting engineers across the team.
  • Conducting code reviews and driving engineering best practice.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-focused features.
  • Influencing architecture, roadmap planning and technical strategy.
  • Communicating technical decisions, risks and trade-offs with stakeholders.
  • Championing secure software development throughout the engineering lifecycle.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
