As a Lead Software Engineer at JPMorganChase within the Corporate Technology, MarketRisk Technology team, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering full-stack solutions that underpin our Wholesale Credit Risk technology platform. You will bring advanced engineering expertise to a collaborative, high-performing team focused on building scalable, cloud-native applications that leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to drive smarter risk decisions. Your work will directly support the firm's ability to assess, monitor, and manage credit risk across wholesale portfolios with precision and confidence.

Job responsibilities

  • Architect and deliver robust, scalable full-stack applications using Java, Spring Boot, and React to support wholesale credit risk workflows
  • Lead the design and implementation of cloud-native solutions, ensuring high availability, performance, and security across distributed systems
  • Integrate artificial intelligence and machine learning capabilities into risk technology platforms to enhance analytical and predictive functions
  • Drive end-to-end software development lifecycle activities, including design, development, testing, deployment, and production support
  • Collaborate with product managers, risk stakeholders, and cross-functional engineering teams to translate complex business requirements into technical solutions
  • Champion engineering best practices including code reviews, test-driven development, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and innovation
  • Identify and resolve complex technical challenges, proactively addressing performance bottlenecks and system vulnerabilities
  • Contribute to the evolution of the team's technology strategy, evaluating emerging tools and frameworks to modernize the platform

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and advanced applied experience
  • Advanced proficiency in Java and Spring Boot for building enterprise-grade backend services and APIs
  • Hands-on experience developing modern front-end applications using React or equivalent frameworks
  • Demonstrated experience designing and deploying cloud-native applications on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and RESTful API design
  • Experience integrating or working alongside artificial intelligence and machine learning models within production systems
  • Proven ability to lead technical delivery across the full software development lifecycle in an agile environment
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and resolve complex technical challenges independently

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Experience working within financial services, risk technology, or regulated technology environments
  • Familiarity with wholesale credit risk concepts, instruments, or related financial products
  • Exposure to mobile application development or cross-platform frameworks
  • Experience with data engineering, real-time data pipelines, or event-driven architectures
  • Knowledge of DevSecOps practices and security-by-design principles in cloud environments
