Lead Software Engineer - Java

Lead Software Engineer – AI-Enabled Technology Solutions

At JPMorgan Chase, you’ll be a vital part of an agile technological team, focused on delivering robust, secure, and scalable market-leading software products. As an individual contributor, you’ll drive impactful technical solutions across varied business units to align with the firm’s strategic objectives.


Key Responsibilities

Technical & Development Expertise

  • Design and execute creative software solutions, blending unconventional yet effective approaches to complex challenges
  • Develop, review, and debug secure, high-quality production code
  • Elevate code quality, delivery efficiency, and operational outcomes using AI-assisted engineering practices, including:
    • AI-powered code review and refactoring
    • Automated testing acceleration
    • Root-cause analysis of system failures
  • Establish and enforce secure coding standards (peer review, automated validation) and promote reusable best practices

Toolchain & Automation Strategy

  • Leverage SDLC toolchain mastery (including AI-driven development and automation tools) to enhance productivity
  • Identify recurring remediation inefficiencies and propose automated solutions to improve system stability

Vendor & Partner Collaboration

  • Lead vendor/startup engagements to assess architectural fit with legacy systems and enterprise IT infrastructure

Required Qualifications & Expertise

✅ Education & Experience

  • Formal training in software engineering + 5+ years of hands-on experience

✅ Technical Skills

  • Deep Java expertise (system design, development, and maintenance)
  • Practical experience with Agile/DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, application resiliency, and security principles
  • Cloud-native proficiency (ideally AWS)
  • Advanced SDLC competency (problem-solving, debugging, automation)

✅ AI & Modern Engineering

  • Demonstrable experience using enterprise-authorized AI tools (coding, debugging, testing) with mindset for validation best practices (correctness, security, performance)
  • Strong grasp of AI ethics/responsible AI use, including:
    • Data sensitivity considerations
    • Secure input/output handling
    • Alignment with regulatory compliance and cybersecurity standards

🔹 Financial Services Domain Knowledge

  • In-depth understanding of enterprise IT systems in banking/financial services

🔹 Specialised Tools

  • MongoDB expertise
  • Experience with MCP server configuration and administration
