Lead Software Engineer | Technical Lead | Product Engineer | AI | Python | FastAPI | TypeScript | React | SaaS | Hybrid 2 days a week max | Central London | £85,000 + 15% bonus
I am currently working with a brilliant consultancy with deep expertise in their field of AI and Cyber Security solutions, predominantly with Central Government organisations. They have experienced impressive growth over the last few years being named 14th fastest growing small Tech business in the UK by FT and as a result they are involved in some of the most challenging yet rewarding large scale technical projects in the country.
Currently they need a Lead Software Engineer for their mature AI centred Cyber product, they currently have a non-technical Product Manager and a team of 10 developers as well as the CTO having close ties to the creation of the product. This role focuses on the internal development and external adoption of the product, acting as the technical leadership for the development team and the product externally.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
