Lead Software Engineer + SAP Exposure
Lead Software Engineer | Contract
We are looking for a hands-on Lead Software Engineer to support a major process automation initiative within a SAP-driven supply chain and manufacturing environment.
The client is looking to automate a manual process where incoming third-party manufacturing order data is currently transferred from PDF documents into SAP. The role will involve helping validate the product discovery, shaping the technical solution, and working closely with internal SAP teams, product stakeholders and external vendors.
This is not a pure SAP development role. The ideal candidate will be a strong modern software engineer with experience across React, Node.js and TypeScript, combined with exposure to SAP environments and enterprise integrations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the engineering approach for a custom software and process automation initiative.
- Build, review and guide solutions using React, Node.js, TypeScript and modern web technologies.
- Work closely with SAP, product and business teams to understand requirements and technical constraints.
- Support product discovery and help define the right solution approach and roadmap.
- Design and support API-led integrations between custom applications, SAP and third-party SaaS platforms.
- Provide technical oversight of external vendors, ensuring solutions are built to a high engineering standard.
- Champion strong software engineering practices including SOLID principles, CI/CD, DevSecOps, testing and clean architecture.
- Ensure solutions are scalable, secure, maintainable and aligned with enterprise engineering standards.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.
