INTEC Energy Solutions is seeking an experienced Lead Solar Design Engineer to support utility-scale solar PV projects across the UK.
This is a key technical role responsible for leading solar PV design from feasibility and bid stage through to construction-ready design and project delivery support. The successful candidate will provide design leadership across EPC and turnkey projects, ensuring solutions are technically robust, commercially optimised, grid compliant, and buildable.

Key Responsibilities
- Leading utility-scale solar PV design, carrying out site assessments, system modelling, energy yield assessments, layout optimisation, and preparing or reviewing key design deliverables such as PV layouts, string layouts, single-line diagrams, cable schedules, technical reports, and design calculations.
- Supporting design reviews, technical queries, value engineering, construction handover, and the mentoring of junior engineers.
- Working closely with project management, construction, procurement, commercial, business development, and engineering teams, while also liaising with clients, DNOs, NGESO, consultants, subcontractors, and equipment suppliers.

Requirements
- Proven experience designing and delivering utility-scale solar PV projects in the UK or comparable markets.
- Strong knowledge of UK grid requirements and an understanding of PV design principles including DC and AC design, inverter selection, string sizing, cable sizing, voltage drop, loss optimisation, and system performance.
- Experience with PVsyst and AutoCAD is required.
- ETAP and BESS integration experience would be highly advantageous.
This role would suit a technically strong solar design professional who enjoys leading design activity, working with multiple stakeholders, and helping deliver high-quality renewable-energy projects that support the UK’s energy transition.
