University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx) Pharmacist Post

University Hospitals Sussex (UHSx) greatly values their pharmacy team and over the years it has continued to grow in strength and numbers. We are now pleased to offer an exciting pharmacist post. The post holder will be a dynamic individual ready to provide expert leadership and knowledge, in renal medicine.

Role Overview

The post holder will be at the forefront of providing specialist pharmacy services optimizing patient outcomes and improving the patient experience. It will be an opportunity to share expertise across the local health economy as well as through national and international networks.

For this position, we will consider Band 7-8a progression where the individual has senior support for clinical and leadership activities and will advance to band 8a upon completion of Foundation Stage 2 qualification and will be supported to register and complete the independent prescribing.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of direct patient care to renal in- and out-patients
  • Clinical management of the haemodialysis unit
  • Attendance at weekly multidisciplinary meetings/ward rounds for renal
  • Management of the pharmacy service to renal medicine
  • Support and contribution to clinical governance within the directorate
  • Leading within specified specialties (clinical risk, clinical audit, education, and teaching)

Requirements

  • Registered Pharmacist with a post-graduate qualification and specialist level experience
  • Non-medical prescribing qualification is mandatory
  • Good communication and IT skills
  • Ability to work in a team and under pressure
  • Problem-solving and meeting deadlines
  • Supporting staff in their development
  • Managing junior staff
  • Providing teaching at the university
  • Supervising undergraduate or junior pharmacist projects
