Lead Statutory Inspector – Topside Division

OEG Renewables: UK (Hybrid/Offshore)

Specialising in topside, marine, subsea, cables, logistics, and industrials, OEG plays a pivotal role in ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient delivery of offshore wind projects.

Core Purpose

As Lead Statutory Inspector within the Topside Division, your role is critical in ensuring:

  • The safe implementation of OEG Renewables policies and procedures at site and shift levels across offshore wind projects.
  • Planning, mobilisation, execution, and demobilisation of statutory inspection workscopes, with support from the department manager.
  • Maintenance of team performance in line with industry, client, project, and company requirements.
  • Design and implementation of engineering solutions for statutory inspection projects.
  • Monitoring and tracking company assets using My Compliance and Motion Kinetic software.

You will manage small teams (expandable based on project needs) while actively supporting client liaison, briefings/debriefings, and compliance with safety procedures.


Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

General

  • Ensure team members are adequately prepared for statutory inspection projects.
  • Manage project tooling and equipment, as well as consumable stock (e.g., inspection tags, oils, and greases).
  • Conduct PPE and uniform standard audits.
  • Mentor junior technicians in statutory inspection practices.
  • Compile daily reports and build inspection checklists.
  • Implement OEG’s Renewables and client safety systems of work.

Inspections

  • Perform thorough examinations under local legislation (LOLER, PUWER):
    • Fire Extinguisher Inspections
    • TMSE Inspections
    • PFPE (Piercing Fixed Pressure Equipment) Inspections
    • Loose Lifting Equipment Inspections
    • Hydraulic system checks (including PRV’s and accumulators)
    • Load testing of WTG nacelle cranes (hoists, hydraulic cranes)
    • Load testing & inspections of Davit cranes and man-riding lifts

Leadership

  • Oversee offshore technician teams and report to the department manager.
  • Provide site-level progress reporting and project management support in tooling/solution delivery.
  • Source and maintain project tooling, equipment, and documentation.
  • Support purchasing of small items and PDF documentation.
  • Manage Motion Kinetic and My Compliance software for site-level tracking.

Quality Control

  • Verify project reports/inspections for correct certification and documentation.
  • Log process nonconformities in My Compliance.
  • Collaborate on annual document reviews.
  • Drive continuous improvement of OEG’s quality systems and standards:
    • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Conduct LOLER/PUWER inspections on company equipment.
  • Assist with pre/post-project equipment inspections to identify defects and root-cause failures.

Environmental responsibility

  • Ensure proper waste disposal in adherence to waste management procedures.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential:

  • 5+ years’ experience in a similar role within the offshore energy/web inspection/industrial maintenance sector.
  • Relevant vocational training, including:
    • Apprenticeship in mechanical/electrical disciplines.
    • LEEA Foundation course + advanced LEEA Diplomas.
  • Strong ability to prioritise, organise, and multitask.
  • Sound knowledge of:
    • LOLER, PUWER, PSSR, Fire Safety regulations.
    • Inspections of PFPE, loose lifting equipment.
    • Calibration processes.
    • COSHH regulations.
  • Full UK driving licence (categorised as ‘clean’).

Additional Attributes:

  • Familiarity with performing progressing briefings/debriefings typical of the offshore work environment.
  • Strong understanding of engineering solutions in lifting systems.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight in high-risk environments.

  • Maintain statutory confidentiality of client and company data/property.
  • Contribute to departmental KPIs through active participation in initiatives.
