Lead Supportability Engineer

Lead Supportability Engineer – Permanent Hybrid Role

Salary Range: £59,400 - £75,000

Leonardo UK operates a grade-based salary framework with broad bands. This range reflects the approved grade band for the role or a narrower hiring range, benchmarked against the external market. Exceptions above the standard range are governed by internal equity controls.

About the Role

Leonardo is seeking a Lead Supportability Engineer with strong industry experience across disciplines such as Electronics/Hardware, Systems, or related fields. The Supportability department plays a pivotal role in the end-to-end lifecycle of Leonardo’s programmes—from Bid to Development, Production, Customer Support, and eventual Disposal.

Our Vision

We foster collaboration across disciplines—Electrical/Electronic, Mechanical, and Systems Engineering—to proactively identify issues in complex systems before they escalate. The role is ideal for someone eager to contribute to continuous improvement of processes, mentorship of junior engineers, and championing best practices to mitigate costs and reputational risks.

You’ll also have the opportunity to develop your skills while being part of a dynamic, cross-functional team that values career growth and innovation.

Your Impact

As the Lead Supportability Engineer, you will:

  • Lead a team of Supportability Engineers, delivering diverse project work packages.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Operations, and Project Engineering, offering guidance on Supportability requirements, providing technical analysis, and shaping life-cycle strategies.
  • Drive cross-department collaboration with Systems, Software, Test Equipment, Quality, and Industrial teams to align on design solutions, support strategies, and maintenance processes.

Responsibilities

Core Delivery Areas

  • Reliability Analysis

    • Develop and implement component-to-system reliability models (utilising Reliability Block Diagram Methodology).
    • Assess electronic, mechanical, and other systems for early-stage reliability guidance.
  • Reliability Testing & Simulation

    • Design and conduct FEA, RGT, HALT, and ESS tests to identify failure modes.
    • Create Reliability Growth plans and propose corrective actions.
  • Maintainability Analysis

    • Conduct Human Factors & Maintenance Task Analysis to optimise Reliability-Centred Maintenance (RCM) and scheduled maintenance schedules.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
