Lead Systems Developer
Senior Software Developer & Lead – Full Stack (Permanent)
Location: Woolpit Salary: Competitive Contract Type: Permanent

Purpose of This Role
Provide well-developed full-stack software solutions with exceptional customer service skills. Work closely with users, change/product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure solutions meet expectations and deliver tangible value.
Key responsibilities include:
- Guiding and setting the relevant support, development processes, and standards for established product suites.
- Delivering leadership within your team and the broader IT environment to ensure successful outcomes.
- Contributing to technical standards and policies within the department, setting a high-level example for colleagues.
Key Responsibilities
Software Development & Engineering
- Designs, codes, verifies, tests, and refactors complex programs, scripts, and integrations, balancing all requirements when proposing solutions.
- Plans and drives software construction activities, working with team standards for delivery, measurement, and improvement.
- Ensures customer-facing effort is minimised through exceptional customer service and solution-focused practices.
Knowledge & Mentorship
- Takes specialist expertise, captures and classifies knowledge formally, and shares it to foster learning and team growth.
- Organizes and oversees knowledge-sharing initiatives to improve team productivity and business efficiency.

Release & Application Support
- Schedules and communicates project releases and tracks progress.
- Maintains and refines application support processes to minimise incident impact and meet SLA expectations.
- Evaluates release support processes and aligns them with business needs.
Leadership & Development

Proactively contributes specialist expertise toward evolving procedures and culture, balancing security, privacy, and ethical practices.

Qualifications & Experience
Industry Experience or Education
- Degree in IT or equivalent industry experience
Technical Requirements
Full-Stack Development
- Experience designing and maintaining large or complex systems, balancing functional and non-functional requirements.
- Experience with software development methods, tools, and techniques, including policy, standard, and guideline contributions.
- Experience with release management software such as Azure DevOps or Jenkins for CI/CD pipelines.
- Proficiency in version control systems, including multi-developer branching and code review (e.g., Git).
- Client-side development experience with React, jQuery, JavaScript/other frameworks, and CSS/Bootstrap.
- Strong server-side development experience.
- Knowledge of security threats (e.g., OWASP Top 10), secure coding, and secure applications.
- Experience with Agile (Scrum, Kanban) and Waterfall methodologies.

Databases & Systems Integration
- Experience querying and managing relational SQL databases (e.g., optimisation, structure, performance management).
- Strong ability to support software systems, resolving issues while ensuring excellent customer service against SLAs.
- Experience with integrating multiple systems.

Desirable Qualifications & Experiences
- ITIL 4 Foundation certification.
- Experience designing systems using UML/C4 diagrams.
- Background in IT service desk or support environments aligned with ITSM principles.
- Experience with microservice architectures for scalability.
- Exposure to RESTful APIs and standardised communication between systems.
