Lead Systems Engineer
Location: Rochester, Kent (4+ days on-site per week) Salary: £60,000 – £65,000
About the Role
An experienced Lead Systems Engineer is required to work on cutting-edge systems within the aerospace industry in Rochester.
This role focuses on:
- Guiding and mentoring engineers, providing technical direction and career development support
- Collaborating across teams to develop and implement effective technical solutions
- Ensuring smooth execution of projects through strategic decision-making and resource management
Key Responsibilities
- Mentoring & Growth: Offer technical guidance and career support to junior engineers
- Project Facilitation: Assess scope, size, and timing to contribute to project success
- Resource Planning: Evaluate team size and expertise; provide recommendations on resourcing needs to managers
- Bid & Estimation Support: Create proactive estimates for bids and maintain project budgets and schedules

Requirements
To be successful in this Lead Systems Engineer role, you must have:
- Experience in systems engineering, including product lifecycle management
- Familiarity with: DOORS, Siemens Polarion, Enterprise Architect, CAMEO, MATLAB, or Simulink
- Leadership in team management (technical or managerial decision-making)
- A degree or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g., Systems Engineering, Electronic/Mechanical/Aerospace Engineering, Physics, Mathematics)
