Lead Technical Operator (Lead Formulation Technician)

We are currently hiring 2 Lead Technical Operators to join our growing team in an exciting leadership role. This opportunity will see you as one of two key operational leads, driving production excellence in a regulated pharmaceutical environment.


About the Role

As a Lead Technical Operator (Lead Formulation Technician), you will provide daily operational support to the Process Coordinator, overseeing critical functions across manufacturing, filling, inspection, and packing—ensuring all activities align with SOPs, BMRs, and cGMP standards.


Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Compliance

  • Set up and operate bulk formulation, filling, inspection, and packing lines for both sterile and non-sterile products
  • Complete batch documentation with accuracy, conduct in-process checks, and ensure compliance with SOPs and quality standards
  • Perform equipment checks and cleaning activities (including CIP/SIP), reporting any deviations or issues immediately

Process & Project Support

  • Support project validation, new product introductions, and SAP transactions while adhering to GMP change controls
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and facilitate deviation investigations
  • Act as leadership backup for the Production Coordinator when needed

Team & Operational Excellence

  • Monitor and improve team performance, track downtime, and ensure accurate batch record completion
  • Foster a clean, safe, and compliant work environment under Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)

Health, Safety & Compliance

  • Uphold all EH&S procedures, enforce safe systems of work, and report incidents or near misses

Environment & Work Conditions

  • Cleanroom environment: Enforced hair cover, no jewelry/makeup/perfume, gowning, gloves, lab coat, and no exposed facial piercings
  • Fluctuating temperatures (hot/cold) with loud machinery noise
  • PPE required: Safety glasses, lab coat, gloves, earplugs, etc.
  • Exposure to strong chemical/biological odors and hazardous/toxic materials
  • Potential work-at-heights in some processes

Education & Experience

  • Minimum Qualification: High school diploma, secondary education, advanced certificate, or equivalent
  • Industry Experience:
    • Previous roles in pharmaceutical or regulated environments (MHRA/FDA compliance)
    • Supervisory or mentorship experience (or proven ability to lead/coach)
    • Preference given to candidates with Lean Systems knowledge and Green Belt certification
    • Aseptic block license (where applicable)

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Expertise in cleanroom operations and aseptic manufacturing
  • Strong written/communication skills and mathematical/legal literacy
  • Scientific background (e.g., A-Levels) desirable
  • Well-versed in HMI-driven pharmaceutical systems
  • Demonstrated leadership, time management, and problem-solving capabilities
