About The Role

Come and join the Network Rail Operations training team as a Lead Trainer at Shettleston.

Support and inspire new signallers undertaking the CIRO diploma in Initial Signaller Training. As part of your daily role at Shettleston, you’ll deliver Initial Signaller Training in Absolute Block system, with occasional reasonable travel to other sites.

As part of your development, you will undertake:

  • A 6-week 'Train the Trainer' course
  • A Level 3 City & Guilds in Learning and Development
  • An Assessor qualification (to meet NOP 2.17 compliance)

Additional Information

  • Contract type: Permanent (x2 opportunities available)
  • Hours: Full-time (35 hours per week)
  • Salary: £43,588 - £53,167 per annum (Band 4, depending on qualifications and experience)
  • Location: Shettleston
  • Closing date: Midnight on Monday 6th June

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead inspirational technical, safety, behavioural training, assessment, coaching, and mentoring activities using diverse delivery methods:
    • Face-to-face interaction
    • Virtual training
    • Digital solutions
  • Work proactively with the training planning team to optimise utilisation.
  • Foster a safety-first, "No-Unsafe-Acts" culture among employees.
  • Actively promote the Network Rail Values at every engagement point and set a best-practice example of professional attitudes.
  • Drive safety awareness and comply with safety policies without exception.
  • Support the development of apprentices by conducting relevant safeguarding checks and supporting their:
    • Assessment of NVQs
    • Work-based learning
    • Task books
    • Additional technical support
  • Deliver excellent learner experiences by enhancing:
    • Enjoyment
    • Motivation
    • Value gained from training
  • Differentiate learning approaches to accommodate various learning styles and individual needs.
  • Must be competent and knowledgeable in the relevant technical or operational field and be willing to commit to continuous professional development.
  • Achieve NVQ Level 3 in Learning & Development within 18 months of appointment.
  • Support the development of other trainers both within Network Rail and externally.
  • Enhance and improve training materials, assessment tools, aids, and equipment.
  • Represent Network Rail Training in capability development groups and skills forums, to drive the development of specific competence areas.
  • Advocate for continuous improvement in:
    • Internal quality procedures of the Training Centres
    • External inspections
    • Work instructions
  • Maintain training centre training assets where relevant.
  • As a Network Rail Manager, demonstrate managerial behaviours, promote pertinent policies, initiatives, and company values.
