The Opportunity
VML is seeking an **ambitious, confident, and detail-oriented Lead UI Designer to work at the forefront of digital design, collaborating with a cross-functional creative team to enhance user experience (UX) and drive conversion.
This role is ideal for:
- A strong, concept-driven professional with experience in e-commerce UI design.

Key Responsibilities
Design Leadership & Execution
- Create pixel-perfect responsive interfaces and design systems for key clients, championing usability and accessibility.
- Develop digital brand consistency, looking and feeling across online experiences.
- Take a proactive, systematic approach to design, integrating scalability and efficiency from the outset.
- Anticipate user/customer needs and ensure work aligns with business and client objectives.
Project Leadership
- Lead and mentor UI designers/team members, reinforcing design excellence and process refinement.
- Own and present design decisions, from concept to final execution, fostering client trust.
- Proactively resolve issues and translate technical or creative feedback into actionable solutions.
Portfolio Showcase
- Maintain a portfolio demonstrating high-quality online experiences across the entire customer journey.
- Capable of showcasing conversion-focused e-commerce work in a compelling manner.
Requirements & Qualifications
Design Experience & Skills
- Proven e-commerce UI design expertise.
- Proficiency in Figma, Adobe Creative Suite and similar design tools.
- Detail-oriented with a meticulous, craftsmanship-driven mindset.
Brand & Design Systems
- Experience with brand identity development and design systems.
- Ability to theme and evolve existing design frameworks for varied client needs.
Collaborative Approach
- Strong communication skills, capable of influencing clients and stakeholders.
- Willingness to collaborate with software engineers for implementation and iteration.

Professional Background
- Experience at digital/creative agencies or in-house studios.
- University degree-preference in Graphic Design, UI, or related fields.
- Portfolio highlighting e-commerce focus with clean, compelling examples.
Professional Mindset
- Great work ethic, strong work environment adaptability.
- Ability to manage deadlines while prioritising high-quality output.
- Thrives in multitasking and under pressure scenarios.
Leadership & Presentation
- Acts as a senior representative for the UI & Design generative team within VML.
- Confident in pitching ideas and owning decision-making in client-facing settings.
