Lead Utilities Surveyor
Senior Land Surveyor – Geomatics Team

About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and driven Senior Land Surveyor to join our growing Geomatics team, supporting our innovative approach to delivering excellence to our clients. This excellent opportunity is ideal for a skilled surveyor who enjoys:

Responsibilities
As a Senior Land Surveyor, your key responsibilities will include:
- Managing a wide range of Land Surveying projects, taking responsibility for:
- Delivery standards
- Client communication
- Technical quality
- Traveling to sites nationwide to undertake Land Surveying services, capturing geospatial data using:
- GNSS Receivers
- Robotic Total Stations
- Laser Scanners
- Drones/UAVs
- Electromagnetic Location & Ground Penetrating Radar equipment
- Producing accurate geospatial deliverables to support fast-paced projects across multiple sectors—on time and within budget
- Collaborating with teams to gather, analyse, and interpret data from sources such as:
- Land Registry
- Ordnance Survey
- Environment Agency
- Local authorities
- Utility providers
- Providing informed time and cost estimates for survey tasks and advising clients and colleagues
- Overseeing maintenance, calibration, and compliance of Land Surveying equipment per company policies and procedures
- Supporting and mentoring junior staff, contributing to their development and performance reviews
- Leading team development, suggesting improvements and supporting new ways of working
- Demonstrating commercial awareness while maintaining project records for client updates and accurate billing

Essential Requirements
The successful candidate will:
- Have strong technical experience with Land Surveying equipment and workflows, including:
- GNSS Receivers
- Robotic Total Stations
- Laser Scanners
- Drones/UAVs
- Electromagnetic Location & Ground Penetrating Radar
- Be a confident communicator, comfortable engaging with clients and stakeholders at all levels
- Possess excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Be able to manage, interpret, and work with large volumes of qualitative and quantitative data
- Be a competent user of Microsoft Office
- Hold a full UK driving licence and be willing to travel extensively

Desirable
- Hold or be working towards a professional qualification (e.g., RICS, CICES, or TSA)
- Have experience mentoring or supervising junior colleagues
- Demonstrate strong commercial awareness, including involvement in tenders or fee proposals
