Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal

Bellevue Veterinary Clinic - Frome, Somerset

Salary up to £70,000 DOE FTE, relocation allowance up to £5,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000

Bellevue Vets, part of ivc, is a Silver ISFM-accredited practice in the picturesque market town of Frome, is looking for an experienced Lead Veterinary Surgeon to join our welcoming team. As Lead Vet, you'll combine hands-on clinical work with leadership responsibilities, supporting and developing your colleagues while maintaining exceptional clinical standards. Working closely with the Practice Director, you'll help shape the future of the practice, encourage collaboration and create an environment where both people and patients can thrive.

A Varied Caseload with Clinical Freedom

Our caseload includes cats, dogs, rabbits, small furries and the occasional exotic or wildlife patient, offering plenty of variety. You'll enjoy a balanced mix of consultations and surgery, with the autonomy to work cases up thoroughly and provide excellent continuity of care. Modern facilities, including digital radiography, ultrasound, VetAir dental equipment and multi-parameter monitoring, allow you to deliver outstanding patient care, supported by excellent referral pathways when needed.

A Practice Built Around Quality Care

Set within a beautifully converted barn, Bellevue Vets provides a calm and welcoming working environment. The practice features dedicated consulting rooms, a separate RVN consult room, a fully equipped theatre and prep area, laboratory, digital imaging suite, separate dog and cat wards, isolation facilities, a dedicated euthanasia room and comfortable staff facilities, all with ample on-site parking.

Join a Supportive Team

You'll lead a close-knit team of two Veterinary Surgeons, four RVNs and a dedicated Client Care Team, supported by an engaged Practice Director. We also work alongside a visiting orthopaedic specialist and actively encourage professional development, with funding available for CPD and certificate study. Community is important to us, and we're proud to support charities including Dogs Trust and Cats Protection.

Work-Life Balance That Works

This full-time role is worked across four days (38 hours), with part-time applications also welcomed. The rota includes just 1 in 4 Saturday mornings (9:00am–1:00pm), with no out-of-hours or on-call commitments.
