Lead Veterinary Surgeon - Small Animal
Lead Veterinary Surgeon with Clinical Lead Responsibilities
Salary: Up to £75,000 DOE with relocation allowance up to £5,000 and welcome bonus up to £5,000
At Inspiring Vet Care, our people are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we're trusted with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering our purpose: healthier animals and happier owners.
The Role
We’re seeking an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into an additional Clinical Lead role, joining our established leadership team within a six-site practice in Essex. This is a pivotal position for a confident clinician who excels in a varied caseload while helping shape clinical standards, support colleagues, and drive practice growth.
You won’t be leading alone. You’ll collaborate with our existing senior leadership team, adding your expertise to a supportive Clinical Lead structure, essential for scaling our clinics to maintain high standards.
A Role That Balances Clinical Work and Leadership
You’ll be an experienced Veterinary Surgeon with RCVS registration, possessing robust clinical skills and an instinctual ability to support and mentor others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape clinical direction and standards while maintaining hands-on involvement in consultations, surgery, and diagnostics.
- Support and develop less experienced vets, working closely with other leaders across the practice.
- Contribute to a collaborative culture across our six clinics.
- Influence practice growth and evolution, while helping to establish a framework for continuous improvement.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
