The Role
At Inspiring Vet Care, our team of brilliant veterinary colleagues are at the heart of everything we do. As the UK’s number one vet care provider, we trust staff with the care of over 2 million animals, delivering a purpose of healthier animals and happier owners.
We are looking for an experienced Veterinary Surgeon to step into a Clinical Lead role within a six-site practice in Essex, consolidating your confidence and influence to elevate clinical standards, support colleagues, and drive the continued growth of our practice.
This isn’t a leadership role in isolation. You’ll collaborate with an established Clinical Lead team and join a senior leadership group, adding your expertise while fostering a culture of support, career growth, and excellence.
Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership & Mentorship:
- Guide, mentor, and support less experienced vets through clinical challenges and career growth.
- Shape clinical standards, policies, and processes to enhance quality of care.
- Foster a collaborative workplace culture across six clinics.

Hands-On Care:
- Deliver high-quality clinical work including consultations, surgery, and diagnostics.
- Work within a multi-site team managing cases across all locations.

- Strategic Development:
- Contribute to practice development, including expansion plans and clinical service enhancements.
- Promote a focus on continuous improvement and sustainability.
Location & Facilities
- Practice: Established six-site small animal care provider in Essex.
- Technology & Equipment:
- Ultrasound, endoscopy, ECG, full IDEXX lab
- Digital & dental X-ray facilities
- Laparoscopic and orthopaedic equipment
- Infrastructure: Main site includes:
- Dedicated cat & dog wards
- Three operating theatres
- Imaging & lab spaces
- Multiple consulting rooms
- Relaxed premises for waiting staff, offices, and outdoor pet relief areas
- Patient Types: Broad clinical experience with dogs, cats, small furries, wildlife.
- Certifications Supported: Opportunities to develop role as a certificate holder in:
- Soft Tissue Surgery, Orthopaedics, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Ophthalmology
Working Conditions
- Hours: 40 hours over four days (Monday–Thursday).
- Shifts: Variable, with full-time appointments last at 5.30pm daily.
- Emergency Duty: Rotational Saturdays (1 in 5) and emergency day cover (1 in 8).
- No on-call requirement.
- Balanced weekend coverage with five guaranteed consecutive rest days.
About You
- Required:
- Experienced veterinary surgeon RCVS-registered.
- Strong clinical capability with a desire to mentor junior staff.
- Collaborative mindset, excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Interest in contributing to practice expansion alongside hands-on clinical work.
- Experience:
- A senior veterinary role would be advantageous but not prerequisite.
- Soft Skills: Natural leader, willing to guide teams through change, supportive environments.
