Leading Hand – Diesel/Plant Mechanic
Are you a highly skilled Diesel or Plant Mechanic looking to take the next step in your career? CEA is seeking an experienced Leading Hand to join our growing Service team in Wingfield. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on leader who enjoys balancing technical work with team coordination, while helping deliver outstanding service outcomes for our customers.
The role combines workshop and fieldwork, including servicing, repairing construction and mobile equipment, supporting technicians, coordinating workflow, and ensuring the highest standards of safety, quality, and customer service.

As a Leading Hand, you’ll be a trusted technical expert and go-to support for the wider service team.

- Perform servicing, maintenance, and repairs on new and existing equipment in both workshop and field environments
- Diagnose faults and identify effective repair solutions
- Allocate work to technicians and coordinate external contractors as required
- Provide technical guidance, coaching, and day-to-day support to service technicians
- Monitor productivity, including quoted hours vs. actual hours worked
- Communicate job progress, costs, and completion timeframes with customers
- Assess warranty validity and ensure repair orders are processed correctly
- Work closely with the Parts team to secure timely parts and components availability
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with WHS requirements, quality standards, and company procedures

About You
We’re looking for a motivated and experienced tradesperson who enjoys leadership, teamwork, and delivering quality workmanship.
Requirements
- Trade qualifications as a Diesel Mechanic, Plant Mechanic, or similar
- Strong experience servicing and repairing construction, earthmoving, or mobile equipment
- Previous experience as a Leading Hand, Senior Technician, or similar leadership role
- Advanced fault-finding and diagnostic capabilities
- Ability to lead, mentor, and support a team of technicians
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Proactive, organised, and solutions-focused approach
- Current driver’s licence
- Genuine commitment to safety and leading by example
