Salary: Up to £34,340 per annum | Additional Night Allowance | Company Van | Company Benefits
Location: Cambridge, Cambridgeshire
Contract: Full Time | Permanent | 40 hours per week
About Us
South Staffordshire Water operates across two regions as Cambridge Water and South Staffs Water, and is a privately-owned regulated water only company.
South Staffs Water supplies a population of nearly 1.3 million. The area of supply stretches from the edge of Ashbourne in the North, to Halesowen in the South, and from Burton-on-Trent in the East, to Kinver in the West.
The Role
Our Leakage Department plays a vital role in helping reduce water leakage across the network, supporting operational performance and customer service delivery.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated Leakage Technician to join our experienced team and contribute towards achieving leakage detection targets. This role is ideal for someone with a strong understanding of water distribution networks and a proactive, field-based approach to problem-solving.
This is a permanent night shift role, working 4 x 10-hour shifts.

Carry out field-based leakage detection activities across allocated District Metered Areas (DMAs) Detect and localise leakage effectively, utilising specific leakage detection equipment Undertake valve operations, step testing, DMA integrity testing, and pressure, flow, or noise logging to support network optimisation Accurately complete paperwork, capture operational data, and provide information to support planning and decision making Manage customer interactions professionally, addressing concerns calmly and proactively managing expectations Adapt to new technologies and contribute ideas to improve team performance and operational effectiveness
What You’ll Need
Good understanding of water distribution networks and leakage detection processes Excellent communication and customer interaction skills GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English Good PC literacy, including Microsoft Word and Excel Ability to work independently and effectively within a field-based team environment Full UK driving licence
