About the Role
Due to significant growth, Skills for Security, the leading provider of apprenticeships to the Fire and Security sector, are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate Learner Engagement Officer to join our team on a full-time, permanent basis.
Are you personable, detail-oriented with the ability to build relationships? If so, a career with Skills for Security could be for you.
You don’t need to have knowledge of education and apprenticeships or the fire and security sector to be successful in this role, you will receive all the training you need. The key to success, is being able to talk to people, communicate effectively, and keep accurate records.
Our learners are at the heart of everything we do where consolidating and recording details of the learners' progress is paramount to supporting them, and their employers. Reporting and recording comments on progress vs target, identification of best practice and areas for improvement, along with pastoral support and guidance is critical to your success within this role.
Reporting to the Lead Learning Engagement Officer, you will be responsible for a caseload of learners completing formal progress reviews, in conjunction with our sector experts, to meet regulatory compliance and support the ongoing development of our learners. You will often be the first point of contact for learners and their employers so you can expect a variety of queries and challenges which you will be supported in resolving.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
