Learning & Development Manager
Basingstoke (site-based 5 days a week)
There’s a particular kind of L&D role that doesn’t come up often — one where you’re trusted to shape the agenda, not just deliver it.
I’m partnering with a well-established, project-led business to appoint a Learning & Development Manager into a standalone role with real visibility and influence. You’ll work directly with senior leadership, including the MD, to build capability across the organisation in a way that’s practical, commercially grounded and genuinely embedded.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

Experience fit

Only hits
No noise. No "maybe this fits." Just roles with a clear explanation of why they're right — and where to focus when applying.
This isn’t about rolling out generic training. It’s about:
- Bringing structure to development — from appraisals through to career pathways
- Strengthening leadership capability in an operational environment
- Building a joined-up approach to succession, apprenticeships and progression
You’ll need to be comfortable operating autonomously, balancing strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, and working closely with stakeholders who value straight-talking, pragmatic input. It’s a site-based role, which will naturally narrow the field — but for the right person, it offers the opportunity to shape something meaningful and visible.
