Job Title: Learning and Development Partner - Children's Residential Services

Salary: £35,000 to £40,000 per annum, dependent on experience

Hours: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Location: Hereford (home based with regular travel/occasional overnight stays)

Setting: Residential Children's Services

Overview:

Compass Associates partners with a leading children's residential care provider in their search for a Learning and Development Partner covering the Hereford area. This role suits a residential children's services professional ready to move into a training focused position. The organisation invests in staff development and delivers high quality training through a mix of in-person and remote sessions.

The Candidate:

The Learning and Development Partner delivers and enhances training programs across children's residential services. Drawing on a minimum of three years' experience in residential children's services, the successful candidate trains, educates, and upskills new and existing staff, preparing them to meet the standards expected in their roles. Training subjects include induction to the organisation, safeguarding children, positive approaches to behaviour, child sexual exploitation and missing from home, emergency first aid at work, medication, and ligature awareness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Training Delivery and Development
    • Works with the L&D team to design and deliver training aligned with current standards. Draws on personal residential children's services experience to provide relevant, impactful training for staff.

  • Training Administration

    • Organises and runs training sessions smoothly, coordinating with the L&D Coordinator. Manages assessment and evaluation of training programs and feeds back to improve future sessions.
  • Record Maintenance

    • Maintains accurate training records using the Myrus system.
  • Legislation and Best Practice

    • Stays informed on new legislation and best practice, keeping training content current and compliant.
  • Subject Matter Expertise

    • Acts as Subject Lead in a specific area of expertise, working with services to promote safe and effective practice.
  • Health and Safety Compliance

    • Upholds high standards of personal and professional conduct, ensuring health and safety compliance across all training activities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Minimum of three years' experience working within residential children's services
  • In-depth understanding of good practice, current legislation, and policy trends in children's residential services
  • Expertise in mandatory training subjects relevant to residential care
  • Relevant qualifications within the mandatory subject area
  • Strong numeracy, literacy, and IT skills
  • Full driving licence and access to a vehicle
  • Administrative experience, including report and letter writing and record keeping
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with a wide range of people

Desirable Criteria:

  • Previous experience as a trainer
  • Training or teaching qualification
  • Experience managing and allocating resources effectively
