35 working hours per week
8.00 am to 4.00 pm with one-hour unpaid lunch break
Paid over 52 weeks
Holiday Entitlement:
13 weeks paid holiday annually
A Learning Behaviour Mentor is required at Overstone Park Independent Therapeutic School in Northampton on a permanent basis.
To work in the Preparatory department with pupils in Key Stages 1 and 2.
Job Details:
The Behaviour Support Learning Mentor will provide a complementary service to teachers and other staff, addressing the needs of children who require assistance in overcoming barriers to learning in order to achieve their full potential, or accessing the curriculum.
The Behaviour Support Learning Mentor Will Work With a Range Of Pupils, But Give Priority To Those Who Need The Most Help, Especially Those Experiencing Multiple Disadvantages, Including:
- Children with special or medical needs
- Challenging behaviour
- Children with a statement of special educational needs
The Behaviour Support Learning Mentor will be education-based but will have a wider remit, including working with families and the wider community.

Qualifications:
- Qualification at Level 3 in childcare or Health and Social Care.
- Training is offered.
- Experience: Three years of working with children or within the care sector.

Shortlisting And Reference Requests:
References will be requested at the selection stage directly from the referee. They will be asked:
- The referee’s relationship with the candidate.
- Details of the applicant’s current post and period of employment.
- Performance history and conduct.
- Any disciplinary action.
- Whether the referee has any reservations as to the candidate’s suitability to work with children. If so, we will ask for specific details of the concerns and the reasons why the referee believes the candidate may be unsuitable to work with children.
Interviews:
At least one member of each interview panel will have completed Safer Recruitment Training. The selection process for every post will include an exploration of the candidate’s understanding of child safeguarding issues.
Pre-Employment Checks:
All staff will require an enhanced DBS. Prohibition and Overseas checks will also be conducted. All statutory checks will be conducted.
