Job Purpose
The Learning Content Designer will be responsible for designing, developing, and creating engaging, effective, and impactful learning content and materials.
You will be creative and detail-oriented, bringing a blend of instructional design expertise, creativity, and technical skills that meet the needs of our diverse organizational audience.
Experienced in design methodology for in-person, virtual, and blended learning delivery, you will develop impactful, best-in-class learning experiences to enhance employee engagement, improve performance, and drive organizational success.
Key Accountabilities
- Design and Develop Training Content
- Design and develop high-quality, engaging, and best-in-class learning materials for training sessions, workshops, digital sessions, and blended learning.
- Utilise Instructional Design Principles
- Apply best practice in instructional design and adult learning theory to create learner-centric and outcome-focused training content and learner experiences.
- Use simple, effective, and easy-to-follow guides, instructional videos, interactive activities, assessments, and other relevant training-related methodologies.
- Collaborate with Subject Matter Experts
- Work closely with subject matter experts and key stakeholders to analyze content requirements.
- Ensure accuracy and relevance in the design of training materials.
- Use Creative Software
- Utilize multimedia tools and software to create visually appealing and interactive content aligned with the different learning preferences and needs of the learner.
- Conduct Needs Assessments
- Analyze training needs and learner analysis to identify gaps in current training material and tailor new or updated content to specific audiences.
- Version Control & Quality Management
- Manage the consistency of our training content and conduct regular quality reviews for changes in practice, standards, and legislation.
- Monitor and Evaluate Learning Content
- Build a review process to monitor and evaluate how learning content is used by the 'trainer' and is received by the 'learner'.
- Evaluation data will be used to review and revise content to ensure it is up-to-date and aligned with current best practices, business goals, and learner needs.
- Stay Updated with Industry Trends
- Stay current with emerging training trends, best practices in learning technologies, and instructional design, exploring new ways to enhance the learning experience through microlearning, adaptive learning, AI, and gamification.
- Provide Support to Wider Training Team
- Provide support and guidance to other team members on best practices in content design and development.

Skills & Knowledge
- Specialist knowledge of learning content design.
- Methodical approach to creating engaging training content.
- Strong understanding of instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE, SAM) and adult learning principles.
- Knowledge of training design and storyboard techniques.
- Effective planning and prioritization skills with the ability to set and work to deadlines.
- Ability to manage multiple learning projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery, quality standards, and budget compliance.
- Ability to deal with complex and ambiguous information where an answer isn’t immediately clear.
- Excellent oral and written skills to produce data insights, reports, content, and presentations.
- The ability to understand and explain complex technological scenarios into simple end-user content.

Experience
- Experience at working collaboratively with various stakeholders at different levels in the organization.
- Proven experience in designing and evaluating training content and how it is experienced by an end user.
- Experience of simplifying the “complex” into easy-to-understand language for end users.
- Experience of working as part of a high-performing team.

Qualifications and Training
- Degree in HR, Training, OD, Instructional Design, Education, or a related field. Equivalent professional knowledge or experience within a relevant field.
- Strong proficiency of Microsoft 365 suite and associated applications.
Other
- Ability to work remotely in a Hybrid working environment.
- This is a predominantly home-based role, with travel to our collaboration hub in Liverpool and other sites within the north-west required regularly. We therefore require applicants to live within the north-west of England with the use of a vehicle to facilitate in-person working.
With our extended flexible working options, you can choose to work your 35 hours per week on a 9-day fortnight or a 4.5-day week basis, supporting our employees with their work-life balance.
This role is Band I as per our structure.
