Learning & Development Specialist

Job Title: Learning & Development Specialist Location: Field Based Job Length: Permanent Working Hours: Monday – Friday (Full-Time) (with occasional flexible hours and travel for on-site support)

About the Role

The Learning & Development (L&D) Specialist plays a pivotal role in shaping employee growth by designing, delivering, and evaluating learning initiatives that align with organisational objectives. Reporting to senior leadership, you'll collaborate with business stakeholders, H&R teams, and external providers to create engaging and effective development opportunities.

Key requirements for success:

  • A passion for learning and a talent for designing solutions
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills
  • Experience with adult learning principles and experiential training
  • Comfort working hybrid (field/flexible, with 3 office site days)

🔹 Training Delivery & Facilitation

  • Design and facilitate induction, management development, leadership programmes, soft skills, and behaviour-training workshops, both virtually and in-person
  • Support existing projects including leadership pipelines and successor planning initiatives
  • Coach, engage, and mentor learners
  • Collaborate in early careers (apprenticeships and graduate programmes) to design tailored learning pathways

🔹 Learning Content Development

  • Create job aids, e-learning modules, guides, in-house training tools, and presentation materials
  • Work with SMEs to ensure content aligns with adult learning methodologies and company standards
  • Continuously update and maintain LRM resources to stay current

🔹 Evaluation & Reporting

  • Measure learning impact via feedback analysis and post-training assessments
  • Recommend improvements based on data and performance metrics
  • Ensure training aligns with business outcomes

🔹 Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build strong relationships with employees, managers, leaders, and Peophrester functions
  • Promote learning initiatives internally and externally
  • Coordinate with third-party training providers

🔹 Continuous Improvement

  • Research emerging trends in digital training and learning design
  • Refine existing L&D tools and processes
  • Contribute to creating a high-performing organisational culture

🔹 Assessing Learning Needs

  • Conduct skills gap analyses and needs assessments
  • Support targeted development plans informed by stakeholder input

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience & Key Skills

  • Practical learning design and facilitation experience
  • Proficient in MS Office (PowerPoint, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent interpersonal abilities with engaging presentation style
  • Highly organised, agile, and detail-oriented with problem-solving initiative

Desirable:

  • Manufacturing or FMCG sector experience
  • Expertise in digital learning platforms (learning management systems)
  • CIPD qualifications (Level 5+), Coaching Certificates, or similar
