Role Purpose
As a Learning & Development Trainer, you’ll be pivotal in:
- Building knowledge and skills in a fast-paced, FCA-regulated home insurance environment
- Designing, delivering, and continuously improving blended learning programs that drive:
- Colleague performance
- Regulatory compliance (FCA/Consumer Duty)
- Outstanding customer outcomes
- Partnering with operational leaders, subject matter experts, and the Training & Competence team
- Contributing to a continuous learning culture while innovating interventions
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
Learning Design
- Align blended solutions (classroom, virtual, digital) with business objectives and FCA/Consumer Duty
- Continuously update materials for processes, products, and regulatory changes
Training Delivery
- Conduct engaging programs for:
- Inductions
- Technical insurance knowledge
- Systems & customer service skills
- Regulatory requirements
- Adapt styles to build confidence across all learners
Performance & Competence
- Support structured learning, coaching, and refresher interventions
- Contribute to competency frameworks
- Work with Team Managers and quality assurance (QA) to address gaps

Stakeholder Partnership
- Build strong relationships with leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs)
- Provide advisory expertise on product/system/regulatory rollouts
Evaluation & Continuous Improvement
- Assess effectiveness via feedback, assessments, and performance data
- Develop data dashboards (e.g., Excel) and act on insights
- Consistently enhance learner experience
Compliance & Governance
- Ensure FCA/Consumer Duty compliance in all materials and delivery
- Maintain Training & Competence (T&C) records
- Support regulatory audits and requests

- Grow as an L&D ambassador
- Engage in continual professional development (CPD)
- Contribute to team-wide projects and improvements
- Undertake reasonable additional duties
Required Knowledge
- Experience/Area
- L&D/Training in FCA-regulated environments (preferably insurance/financial services)
- Adult learning theory and blended learning
- Coaching techniques for performance improvement
- Customer service & contact centre principles
- UK home insurance market awareness
- FCA regulations, Consumer Duty, and vulnerable customer protections
- Niche Knowledge
- Competency frameworks (desirable)
- AI tools’ application in learning (desirable)
Required Skills & Experience

- Distil complex topics into clear, practical insights
- Stakeholder management (influence managers/SMEs)
- Needs-analysis and tailored interventions
- Manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines
- Microsoft 365 + LMS proficiency
