Learning Mentor
Behaviour Mentor (Temp to Permanent) – Special Needs School in Wandsworth
About the Role
Are you a dedicated Behaviour Mentor looking for a rewarding role in a supportive and inclusive SEN (Special Educational Needs) environment? A new special needs school in Wandsworth is seeking a passionate Behaviour Mentor to work with students who require additional support with their emotional and behavioural development.
This full-time role (starting June 2026) offers 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, from 8:30 am – 4:00 pm. You will support students in small class groups of 6-8 pupils, primarily in 1:1 or small-group settings.
Due to the nature of the role, exceptional behaviour management skills are essential. Experience in a support or sports coaching role is preferred (though not mandatory).
Key Responsibilities
- Work in a 1:1 or small-group capacity with students requiring additional emotional and behavioural support in a SEN setting.
- Assist in developing individualised education plans (IEPs) to support students’ progress.
- Maintain a positive and motivational approach when working with young people with special needs.
- Contribute to a supportive, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
- Ensure safeguarding protocols are upheld at all times.

Requirements
- Experience required:
- At least 3 years of UK-based work in child-related or support roles within the last three years.
- While previous experience as a Learning Support Assistant is highly advantageous, it is not mandatory if you can demonstrate strong behaviour management abilities.
- Candidates with a passionate, optimistic, and hands-on approach to supporting young people with special needs are strongly encouraged to apply.

- Highly motivated, empathetic, and patient.
- Ability to consistently apply positive reinforcement and de-escalation techniques.
- Commitment to safeguarding policies and child protection guidelines.
Salary & Contract
- Role type: Temporary to Permanent (competitive salary for the right candidate).
- Hours: 5 days a week (35 hours), 8:30 am – 4:00 pm.
