Learning Mentor (SEND/SEMH & EOTAS) – Wokingham
21 Hours Available | Flexible Working Pattern | September Start | Term-Time Only
Are you passionate about making a real difference to the lives of young people with SEND and SEMH needs?
Quantum Scholars is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to provide 1:1 support for young people receiving EOTAS (Education Otherwise Than at School) provision across Wokingham. We are receiving regular referrals for September and currently have approximately 21 hours per week available for the right candidate.
This is not a classroom-based role. As a Learning Mentor, you will play a vital part in helping young people develop the confidence, independence, and life skills they need to thrive. You’ll be supporting pupils in community-based settings through engaging, practical activities that encourage personal growth and prepare them for everyday life.
Whether it’s helping a young person learn how to use public transport, visit local shops, manage social situations, or build their confidence in unfamiliar environments, no two days will be the same.

The Role
- Provide tailored 1:1 mentoring support for young people with SEND and SEMH needs.
- Deliver community-based learning sessions focused on developing life skills and independence.
- Build positive and trusting relationships that help pupils feel supported, motivated, and engaged.
- Support pupils with practical activities such as travelling independently, accessing community facilities, and developing social and communication skills.
- Work closely with young people to celebrate progress and encourage personal development.
- Approximately 21 hours of work available, with flexibility around the days and timings that suit you.
- Sessions take place Monday to Friday during school hours (term-time only).
- Long-term referrals lasting for the full academic year.
What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience working with children or young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs is essential.
- Experience supporting secondary-aged pupils in an educational, mentoring, tutoring, or support role.
- A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting individual needs.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Confidence working independently and creatively to engage young people.
- The ability to travel across the Wokingham area is highly desirable.
- A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
