Learning Resources Centre Manager – Harris City Academy Crystal Palace

About Us

Harris City Academy Crystal Palace is a mixed academy catering to 1,300 students aged 11–18, including a sixth form of nearly 400 students.

Role Summary

We seek a Learning Resources Centre Manager to uphold a professional, stimulating, and orderly learning environment, promoting student achievement.

Salary: £27,354.43–£28,996.45 (37.5 hours/week, 38 weeks/year).


Main Areas of Responsibility

  • Management of Learning Resources Centre (LRC)

    • Oversee day-to-day organisation and supervision.
    • Ensure well-maintained equipment; immediate reporting of computer faults.
  • Engagement & Community Support

    • Assist at presentation/c Consultation Evenings and engage with parents in promoting reading beyond curriculum time.
    • Advise staff, students, and the wider community on learning resources.
  • Staff & Student Development

    • Design and deliver INSET activities on:
      • Teaching/learning techniques
      • Effective use of LRC materials
    • Time-table LRC, enterprise centre, and post-16 study centre.

  • Collaboration & Curriculum Integration

    • Liaise with English & Media teams for events such as:
      • Annual Book Week
      • Writer visits to promote literacy and pleasure
    • Encourage LRC use across subjects
    • Develop study and information skills aligned to the curriculum.
  • Curriculum & Programme Leadership

    • Lead the chosen reading scheme (e.g., Accelerated Reading) for Key Stage 3 students.
    • Devise and deliver INSET on reading schemes for staff.
    • Design intervention programmes to support/reward targeted students.
    • Monitor progress, analyse data, and provide reports on student success.
  • Finance & Record-Keeping

    • Manage budgets for the Centre.
    • Maintain robust records for resource management.
    • Disseminate resource information to staff and students.
  • Resource Supervision

    • Oversee after-hours, lunch-time, and break-time access for students.
    • Liaise with English Dept./external providers for scheme consistency.

Qualifications & Experience

We welcome applications if you have:

  • GCSE passes in English and Mathematics (or equivalent).
  • A degree or equivalent qualification.
  • Knowledge of library systems and Accelerated Reading (or similar).
  • Familiarity with the National Curriculum (focus on English).
  • Three+ years’ experience in an inner-city school/educational establishment.
  • Library management experience.
  • Experience with various reading schemes.
