Job Title: Learning Support Assistant
Location: Barton School, Barton-upon-Humber DN18 6DA
Hours: 40 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.00am - 4.00pm
Salary: £23,638 per annum (not pro rata)
Contract: Permanent | Term Time plus 5 Training Days
Start: October 2026

The Role

We're looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our dedicated team. This is more than just a support role—it's an opportunity to build meaningful relationships, celebrate every achievement and make a lasting difference to the lives of pupils who need it most.
Working alongside experienced teachers and therapists, you'll help create a safe, nurturing and engaging learning environment where every pupil feels valued, supported and empowered to reach their full potential.
What you will be doing
- Support pupils in the classroom, individually and in small groups, helping them access learning and achieve their goals.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, independence and emotional wellbeing.
- Encourage positive behaviour and help create a calm, inclusive learning environment.
- Work closely with teachers and the wider multidisciplinary team to deliver personalised support.
- Monitor and celebrate pupil progress, recognising every success along the way.
- Assist with classroom preparation and contribute to engaging learning experiences.
- Help ensure the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of all pupils at all times.

What you will bring
- GCSE C/4 in maths and English required.
- Is passionate about supporting children and young people to achieve their potential.
- Is patient, resilient and able to remain calm in challenging situations.
- Can build positive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues.
- Brings enthusiasm, compassion and a proactive approach to every day.
- Previous experience in education or an SEN setting is desirable but not essential—we value the right attitude and a genuine commitment to making a difference.
About Us
Options Barton School is a specialist school for children and young people with autism, aged 5 to 19. Following extensive development and refurbishment works, we are expanding our team in preparation for our next intake of students. We are thrilled to offer this exciting opportunity for a Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated and close-knit school community. This is a truly rewarding role, where you can make a significant difference to the lives of young people. We value our Learning Support Assistants and the essential support they provide to the children who attend our school.
