Learning Support Assistant

Learning Support Assistant

A college specialising in specialist further education in Yeovil is seeking a Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to start ASAP until the end of the academic year on a fixed-term contract, with a pay rate of £104–£115 per day.

This independent college provides a tailored approach to support pupils with diverse needs, including:

Key Responsibilities

  • Support students with a range of complex needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities)
  • Help shape lessons and activities that align with individual student progress
  • Work within a team-focused environment where empathy, patient communication, and adaptability are paramount
  • Assist in ideas inclusion of students into the wider community (e.g., vocational training, social engagement)

Role Requirements

  • Experience working in a similar Learning Support Assistant or care role
  • Communication Skills: Ability to effectively communicate with students who have PMLD, interpreting their responses and intentions
  • Empathy and Compassion: Demonstrating understanding and genuine compassion toward students with PMLD
  • Adaptability: Flexible approach to meeting the evolving needs of students
  • Enhanced DBS certificate (or commitment to complete this)
