Job Title: Learning Support Assistant/Teaching Assistant

Location: Avonside School, Bristol BS4 5PS

Hours: 40 per week | Monday to Friday | 8.00am – 4.00pm

Salary: £23,640 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: October 2026

About the Role

At Avoncisde School, we're looking for a caring, enthusiastic and resilient Learning Support Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is more than just a support role—it's an opportunity to inspire, encourage and empower young people to thrive both inside and outside the classroom.

Working alongside experienced teachers and a supportive staff team, you'll help create a nurturing, engaging and inclusive learning environment where every pupil feels valued, understood and capable of success.

What you will be doing

  • Support teachers in delivering a broad, engaging and personalised curriculum.
  • Provide tailored 1:1 and small group support to help pupils access learning and achieve their individual goals.
  • Assist in implementing educational and behavioural programmes that meet a range of learning needs.
  • Encourage pupils' confidence, independence and positive relationships.
  • Monitor and record pupils' academic, social and emotional progress, sharing feedback with the wider team.
  • Prepare learning resources and classroom materials to support stimulating lessons and activities.
  • Promote positive behaviour and help create a safe, nurturing environment where pupils can flourish.
  • Accompany pupils on educational visits and enrichment activities, and occasionally provide transport where required.
