- Salary: £93–£110 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

- Type: Flexible supply, short-term, and long-term roles
About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) to support pupils in mainstream primary schools across Taunton, starting from September 2026.
We’re seeking flexible and passionate individuals who enjoy a mix of temporary placements and ongoing roles, providing targeted classroom and pastoral support for children with additional needs in inclusive settings.
Through our partnership with a large Multi Academy Trust and local primary schools, we offer diverse opportunities to grow in your career while making a real difference.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives on supporting children’s academic growth, social development, and emotional well-being—while gaining valuable experience in nurturing primary school environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with special educational needs (SEN) throughout the school day
- Assist pupils in accessing learning activities and classroom routines
- Apply supportive strategies tailored to individual needs, including communication, emotional regulation, and social interaction
- Encourage independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
- Adapt support to align with individual pupil targets and EHCP outcomes where relevant
- Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to promote pupil progress
- Offer personal and emotional support (in line with school policies and training)
- Help create and maintain a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment

What We’re Looking For
While experience is advantageous, we value compassion and commitment above all. Ideal candidates include those with:
- Experience supporting children or young people with SEN (not essential)
- Background in schools, care, youth work, nurseries, or support-based roles
- A genuine passion for helping children with additional needs succeed
- Ability to work flexibly with varying pupils, classrooms, and school environments
- Patience, care, and resilience in challenging situations
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- An enhanced DBS (Check on Connex Update Service) or willingness to apply
- Right to work in the UK
