Job Details
- Location: Nailsea, Backwell, Yatton, Portishead, and Clevedon
- Salary: £93–£100 per day (dependent on experience and qualifications)
- Start Date: September 2024
About the Role
Connex Education is recruiting dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistants to provide 1:1 and small-group support across mainstream primary schools in Nailsea, Backwell, Yatton, Portishead, and Clevedon.
We are seeking passionate individuals for a mix of:
- Flexible supply work (day-to-day)
- Short-term placements
- Long-term opportunities
Roles will involves supporting pupils with additional needs through tailored classroom and pastoral support in inclusive primary settings.
This rewarding position offers a fulfilling way to help children thrive academically, socially, and emotionally, while gaining valuable experience in local schools. Connex Education partners with BWMAT (a large Multi Academy Trust) and local primary schools, providing access to diverse opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 1:1 and small-group support for pupils
- Assist students in accessing learning activities and classroom routines
- Implement supportive strategies to meet individual needs:
- Communication
- Interaction
- Emotional wellbeing
- Learning targets (including EHCP outcomes where applicable)
- Foster independence, confidence, and positive engagement in learning
- Offer emotional support in line with school policies and training
- Create and sustain a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment

What We’re Looking For
- Experience in supporting children/youth with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEN) – desirable but not essential
- Background in schools, care work, youth work, nurseries, or support-based roles Preferred
- A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs to succeed
- Ability to adapt flexibly to pupils, classrooms, and school environments
- A patient, caring, and resilient approach
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Working knowledge of safeguarding and child protection procedures
- Enhanced DBS check on the Update Service, or ability to obtain one through Connex Education
- Right to work in the UK
