Job Title: Learning Support Assistant Outreach
Location: Fieldstone School, Devon, TQ12 1NH
Salary: £22,800.00 per annum (not pro rata)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.30am - 4.30pm
Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only
Start: October 2026

At Fieldstone School, we're looking for a compassionate, resilient and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant – Outreach to join our dedicated team. This is a unique opportunity to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs in a variety of settings—including school, alternative provisions, the local community and, where appropriate, pupils' homes.
This isn't a traditional classroom role. You'll help remove barriers to learning, build positive relationships and empower young people to develop the confidence, independence and life skills they need to achieve their full potential.
Working alongside teachers, therapists and pastoral colleagues, you'll become a trusted adult, supporting pupils through both their educational journey and personal development while making a genuine difference every single day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Support pupils on a one-to-one basis and in small groups across a variety of learning environments, including school, community settings and alternative provision.
- Build positive, trusting relationships that promote confidence, resilience and emotional wellbeing.
- Deliver targeted learning programmes and interventions to support individual education plans.
- Encourage independence, engagement and positive behaviour through consistent support and guidance.
- Help pupils overcome barriers to learning and celebrate every achievement, no matter how small.
- Support the delivery of creative, engaging learning activities tailored to individual needs and interests.
- Prepare learning resources and specialist equipment to support teaching and learning.
- Plan and deliver creative individual and small-group activities that reflect pupils' interests and personal goals.
- Accompany pupils on educational visits, community activities and off-site learning opportunities.
- Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, pastoral staff, families and external agencies to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Monitor, record and report on pupil progress, wellbeing and engagement.
- Maintain a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment while promoting safeguarding and pupil welfare at all times.

What We’re Looking For
We're looking for someone who:
- Has experience working with children or young people with SEN, SEMH or additional needs.
- Holds GCSE English and Maths (Grade 4/C or above) or equivalent.
- Has a genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers and achieve success.
- Is calm, patient and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships even during challenging situations.
- Can work confidently both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills and can work effectively with families and external professionals.
- Is organised and able to monitor pupil progress accurately.
- Is confident using IT to support learning and record keeping.
- Holds a full UK Driving Licence and is willing to travel between settings when required.
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
About Us
Fieldstone School is an independent day school, supporting the most vulnerable young people in society aged 5-16; those children who do not find it easy to fit into existing educational provision. This can be for many reasons, including a range of behavioural, emotional and educational challenges, exacerbated by being on the autistic spectrum. Other difficulties such as sensory processing disorders, attachment disorders or those having faced trauma in their lives.
It is our intention that every student will achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development. As a day school, we provide an alternative to residential education which supports our students to develop independence and social skills whilst living in their home environment.
