Learning Support Assistant (SEND) – Luton, Watford & Hemel Hempstead

Support learners with SEND to achieve, progress, and thrive

Do you want to make a real difference through high-quality, inclusive support that helps students build confidence, independence, and achieve their goals? Are you passionate about supporting learners with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)?

We’re looking for committed and flexible Learning Support Assistants to join our SEND team. These roles form a vital part of our inclusive provision, delivering responsive, learner-centred support across a range of occupational and vocational courses.


The Role

We have a range of opportunities available across our campuses in Luton, Watford, and Hemel Hempstead, including full-time, part-time, term-time-only, and hourly paid roles. Please state your preferred campus, hours, and working pattern in your application.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work directly with learners to provide:

  • One-to-one and small group support
  • Assistance in accessing the curriculum and developing independence
  • Help in making meaningful progress

You will also play a key role in EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan) processes and maintaining accurate SEND documentation.

This is a varied and rewarding role, with key responsibilities including:

  • Providing tailored support to learners with a range of SEND needs, including those with EHCPs
  • Developing and implementing tailored support strategies based on individual needs and EHCP outcomes
  • Collaborating with teaching staff to adapt learning activities and promote inclusive practice
  • Supporting the preparation and upkeep of SEND documentation (EHCPs, exam access arrangements, support plans)
  • Contributing to EHCP reviews and annual review processes, working with families and external professionals
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of support, progress, and communication
  • Ensuring a consistent, high-quality, and person-centred approach to learner support
