Learning Support Assistant – Primary School, Frome (1:1 Support)

We’re seeking a calm, compassionate, and highly committed Learning Support Assistant to deliver dedicated 1:1 support to a pupil at a welcoming, inclusive, and forward-thinking primary school in Frome.

With supportive staff and excellent facilities, this school offers an inspiring environment to make a real impact. This role centres on providing individualised support that empowers the pupil to thrive in a nurturing, secure, and engaging learning environment.

Full-time availability is preferred but not essential.


Main Responsibilities

  • Provide targeted one-to-one support tailored to the pupil’s individual learning, social, and emotional needs
  • Build a trusting, positive, and motivational relationship to help the pupil develop confidence and make meaningful progress
  • Collaborate proactively with the class teacher and SENDCo to implement effective behaviour support and personalised learning strategies
  • Ensure the pupil always feels heard, understood, respected, and valued
  • Contribute to a safe, inclusive, and encouraging classroom environment where all learners can succeed

What We’re Looking For

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) or in a similar support role
  • A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach to behaviour, wellbeing, and learning
  • A strong commitment to delivering consistent, high-quality, child-centred support
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively alongside teaching staff and families

Essential Requirements

  • Right to work in the UK (sponsorship or Skilled Worker visas not offered)
  • Two recent references (from the last two years)
  • Current DBS check registered on the Update Service, or a willingness to apply for one* (Note: If you lack a Non-Voluntary Enhanced DBS, we’ll assist with a new check at a cost of £62.70, refunded after 20 days of work.)
