Position Summary
FTE (Bristol Grade 5): £19,551 pro-rated (OC/NJC Practical Nurse Grade 3, pt 4-8: £25,878–£26,824) Term-time only (39 weeks), 32.5 hours/week – Monday to Friday (8.30am–3.45pm) Permanent Position (Starting September 2026) Closing Date: Sunday 5th July Interviews: Dates TBC
The Role
Join our friendly, supportive, and dedicated team at Oasis Academy Long Cross Specialist Resource Base, a unique specialist provision for children with severe and complex needs, including autism, in a thriving primary school in north Bristol.
This specialist setting (FIRST INSTANCE POSITION) offers a structured and inclusive environment where staff and pupils thrive through play-based, creative, and hands-on learning.
Key Responsibilities
Under the guidance of a small but highly experienced teaching team, you will:
- Provide direct one-to-one or small group support for children from Reception to Year 6 to meet their EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) targets, ensuring punctual attendance to avoid learning gaps.
- Demonstrate passion and commitment to inclusion, continuous professional development, and milestone achievements for each child.
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher, implementing a curriculum delivery in line with speech and language therapy (SALT) and therapeutic needs to address disabilities and learning gaps.
- Implement bespoke EHCP interventions, including TMAS/ACRED accreditation principles, behaviour management strategies, and assistive technology as appropriate.
- Record and track progress using formal assessments and personalised data tracking software (Incompas) to enable evidence-based progress meeting.
- Work towards BLoom certification to support the Oasis Academy Trust’s Team Teaching programme (upskilling before September).
- Attend academy-wide training, including LSCBS, MSAF, Safeguarding, Mental Health Awareness, and ABA Diagnosis requirements.
- Actively engage with outside agencies, such as family support workers and CAMHS (Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services), to ensure tailored support.

Desirable Experience
- Experience in working with children with ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder)
- Delivery of speech, language, or occupational therapy interventions
- Previous work with children with attachment difficulties
- Collaboration with external agencies to fulfill EHCP provisions
- Ability to record and map evidence to inform future planning

Requirements & Qualifications
You should have:
- At least an NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) in Childcare/Special Needs Assistantship (training not fully completed is an option if no qualifications are current).
- Genuine experience in Special Educational Needs in any primary, nursery, or special school.
- Professional learning underpinned by observation techniques around ASD and мальчишествие raining behaviours.
- Predominantly worked in supporting children with EHC Plans and the ability to articulate smaller initial successes and school potential.
- English fluency (Part 7 Immigration Act 2016 requirement).

- Ethical compliance with the Ofsted Common Inspection Framework (Ofsted CIF) and Safeguarding Practice.
