Provison: The FARM provision Contract: Permanent, Term-Time only (Monday–Friday, 08:30–17:00, no holidays required) Salary: £27,008–£29,700 pro rata annualised | Effective salary: £23,150–£25,457 (36 term-time weeks per year) Start Date: September 2026 Closing Date: 13th August 2026
About the Role
The Learning Support Assistant will provide tailored pupil support within a unique, outdoor-focused curriculum environment. Daily tasks include:
- Assisting class teachers and therapists with pupil self-care, learning environment maintenance, and administrative duties
- Delivering 1:1 or whole-class support under supervision (e.g., following teacher/therapist direction)
- Implementing strategies to meet students’ communication, sensory, and behavioural needs
- Teaching in a hands-on life-skills environment, fostering independence through real-world scenarios
The FARM curriculum prioritises four life-building pillars: Happy, Healthy, Fulfilled, and Safe.
Key Responsibilities
- Support pupils aged 11–post-16 with complex needs in structured lessons, outdoor activities, and daily routines
- Enable peers to practice functional, life-shaped skills (e.g., self-help routines) in a stimulating setting
- Work alongside therapists to deliver interventions for social communication challenges (including Autism Spectrum traits)
- Manage challenging behaviours with guidance; empathy, resiliency, and resourcefulness are essential
- Maintain physical/spatial environments conducive to learning (indoor/outdoor adjustments)
- Liaise with teachers, parents, and therapists to meet individual pupil goals

Ideal Candidate
Applicants should demonstrate:
✅ Passion for student development with unwavering patience, problem-solving skills, and resilience ✅ Ability to operate independently alongside teamwork (e.g., contributing to whole-class activities) ✅ Strong English proficiency (written and verbal) plus sound numeracy skills ✅ A nurturing attitude to promote positive behaviour while managing diverse needs ✅ Prior experience working with children (preferably aged 3–11), particularly those with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Autistic Spectrum Disorders ✅ Adaptability: self-care support (e.g., feeding, lifting, toileting assistance) is a common aspect of the role
